SLOW DOWN, would ya?!

At about 1:50 am, Lily came into our room with a nightmare. If Rob doesn't hear the door open and wake, I usually poke him in the back and tell him that one of the kids needs him. (Our babies tend to sleep poorly enough that first year that unless they are up sick, he tends to get up with anyone over age 1 in the night, and I am just up with the baby). So anyway, he wakes up when I elbow him, and I guess Lily's face must have been in his face literally, because Rob started SCREAMING in terror!!! I had to grab his leg and yell to him right next to me "Rob, it's Lily, she came in with a bad dream and youre screaming at her!. Poor Lily, I cant imagine what she must have been thinking. He did wake, and grabbed her in a hug, and we all cracked up. Grace got out of bed, she came in to find out WTF was going on.. and of course, the little man woke up. And stayed up, and crawled all over me and clawed at my face and sat up cute and started babbling.

So now I'm awake, and he's awake, and we are partying into the night. Yay. *sigh*

I will get some standing baby pics up soon!

Felicity Overload!

I got several little photo sessions with Felicity over the long weekend, and wanted to share. Rob is a computer guy and a seminary student at Reformed Theological Seminary, and I am a homeschooling mom with side interests in becoming a post partum doula and a lactation consultant, perhaps an occupational therapist. We both love to read, and we both love music. He supports me wholeheartedly in our decisions to homebirth, co-sleep, breastfeed, nurse through pregnancy and into toddlerhood, as well as delaying vaccination and now with Jackson, not circumcising. I love the support he gives me in these important decisions starting our children out. He is also firmly behind me, and often beside me working with me regarding homeschooling. I haer so many couples argue about these things, and I am so blessed to be on the same page with my husband.

Grace is almost 8. She is very excited about it! She is in second grade, and we do Classical Conversations homeschool co-op, First Language Lessons Level 3 Grammar, Christian Light Science, Christian Light Math, Spelling Plus, and Dictation Plus. She loves to play on webkinz.com, and on meez and stardoll making online paper dolls. I do police the sites to make sure they aren't too provocative! She has an online pen pal in Iceland that she writes to about once a week, and has discovered how to send e-cards on hallmark.com and dayspring.com recently. She and my husband are involved in the YMCA Indian Princesses/Guides for the second year this year, and she is enjoying learning about camping and service projects. She is taking gymnastics and a drama class this year. She loves them both, and will talk your ear off about them. Grace loves to dance and loves to do art projects. Sketching and painting are probably her favorites, and she has recently begun writing short stories. Grace still loves pink, quite a lot.. but has branched out some into wearing some light blue, and some camo print and cheetah print. Grace is a big help with all of her siblings lately, especially Felicity.

Lily is going to be five at the end of November. She is a piece of work for sure! A character, a nut, is by far the most interesting child we have. She has a quick wit, she says outlandish unpredicatble things, she is a great storyteller. She is a tactile thinker like her father, and where he twirls a pen in his hands when he is thinking and creating.. Lily tapsticks. Tapsticks are unsharpened pencils. She twirls them around each other and paces back and forth, singing, chanting, talking, sometimes for an hour or more at a time. I go back and forth between wondering if she is stimming (self stimulating) to cope with stress... or if she is just very creative and needs the tapsticks to create and imagine. Lily takes gymnastics and ballet/tap this year, and is often doing gymnastics and ballet throughout the day. She does kindergarten level work at home, and we are using a Kindergarten workbook and BOB books. She continues to be the most destructive of our children, making experiments in the kitchen or the bathroom, and often destryong property or drawing on the walls when she is angry. Not cool. Lily can mostly be found dressed in shirts and skirts or in leotards, and her favorite color is purple. She can tell time (hour and half hour at least) on a regular clock, and can color inside the lines! New skills just this week. Oh, and when she is drawing and makes girl figures, she gives them all different hair. I thought that was interesting! She is Jackson's second mother, holding him several times a day and pacifying him with suckling on her pinky knuckle. She thinks she has the magic touch! She has started playing more with Felicity lately, which is a lot of fun to watch.

Felicity just turned 2. She is terribly cute, and has an insane vocabulary and ability to converse like a small adult. She loves to dance, she is learning to sing, and seems to be enjoying 2 yr old preschool this year. She does a lot more craft stuff than her older sisters ever did, but I think that's just because more crafting is happening in our home right now. Lots of painting and drawing and coloring. She LOVES her new baby brother, she is so gentle almost all the time, and especially loves it when he is nursing. She tries to help him and encourage him. She emulates Lily and learns a little more than we would like from her. We joke that she is Lily's little apprentice. (Particularly, they both have issues with using their bodies to hurt one another. I would expect it developmentally from Felicity, not so much from Lily.) Recently, she was looking at a book, and turned to me and said "I can't read!". We hope she isn't too serious about learning in the near future, but you never know...

Jackson turns 2 weeks old tomorrow. He seems to be a laid back baby, and has no discernable schedule for eating or sleeping. He nurses like a little pirhana, but also loves his paci, and we've never had a pacifier loving baby. He lost about 4 oz after his birth, and as of last Friday had regained his birthweight of 10 pounds, plus 2 ounces. His umbilical cord was huge, probably the size of a quarter in diameter, and I am concerned about how it will heal, as it is nowhere close to even with his belly, let alone looking like either an innie or an outie. But it appears to have closed, thanks to some goldenseal powder application. He definitely looks and sounds like a little boy, which for some reason, surprised me. I think you'd assume from looking at him that he was a boy. He has broad shoulders and tiny hips (so far), but I would assume he is going to start putting on lots of weight and get close to or even pass Felicity this next year. Lily was born weighing 9 lbs 4, and she turned into a 26 pound 7 month old. I'm sorta expecting that out of him. He can hold his head up really well, and has started to do some chatty vocalizing already. I could go on all day about him of course. Im enjoying my babymoon phase, complete with sleep deprivation and still wearing maternity jeans. I am dropping a LOT of weight quickly though, thanks to the nutritional demands of das bebe!

So, a family update for you. And more pictures!

<IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px; BORDER-LEFT-WIDTH: 0px; BORDER-BOTTOM-WIDTH: 0px;
